Summary 08841: vectrex [darktowr]: Display issue on life 2
Description This may or may not be related to previous reported ID 05784. However this previously reported bug mentions concerns with large amounts of activity on the screen, which is not exactly what is occurring in this report. Also, This isn't necessarily a graphics problem but more of a display/draw issue.

The issue I'm reporting is associated with ROM darktowr for Vectrex. ROM was Verified to be ok.

After dying on life one (usually by opening a box and getting killed by enemies), the second warrior (second life) redraw/refresh rate is unplayable. It displays only a small portion of the drawn screen at a time. While it appears the entire display may be properly drawn, there is no persistence of the drawn lines. Note the game plays just fine up to ending of the first life so it only seems to start on life 2. I did repeat using an older version of MAME as well - version 0.211 with same results. Using Retroarch seems to not have this issue so it appears this may be a mame issue.
Steps To Reproduce Play normal game. Find a box. Open. If there are enemies firing - let them kill you. On life 2 the display issue will start. If the box did not contain enemies, keep trying until you find one that does.

I don't get anything like what's described. All I see is a bunch of oddly-shaped trees, and after walking among them for a while I suddenly die for no apparent reason.

There's no change to the amount of stuff on the screen, or any other change between the first life and later.

You can die out in the open. If so it continues ok. Note there are different trees depending on the area you are in. "Warp" or "Teleportation" that occurs is also ok. You have to open boxes and die fighting the enemies - then the problem occurs.
